We are very excited to announce the 1st Annual “Pops at the Bluffs” Spring Concert! This concert is FREE and we encourage all family and friends to attend. This event will serve as our Spring Concert and will be a collaborative event for both the Cherokee Bluff Chorus and Band departments that will feature all performing groups in grades 6-12. The event will take place at Cherokee Bluffs Park, which is located at 5867 Blackjack Road in Flowery Branch on Friday, May 10th. This is a date change from previous calendars that were sent home this year, so please make note of that on your calendars. Some of the after school rehearsal dates have also changed for this event, so check those carefully as well. If the weather forecast looks questionable for that night, we will move the event to the CBHS Gym. We will make an inclement weather decision at least 24 hours prior to the event and all students and parents will be notified of the location change. The performance times would remain the same if we have to move the event to the school.
Cherokee Bluffs Park is located about 10 minutes from the school and features a nice amphitheater for the performances and lots of outdoor seating. If the seating in the amphitheater fills up, there is plenty of overflow seating for families to put down a blanket or bring lawn chairs and enjoy the evening of performances. There are two large parking lots and we have been given permission to park vehicles in the grass areas if needed. There are restrooms available on site as well.
Georgia Power has graciously offered to cater a meal for families who wish to eat dinner while enjoying the performances. Attached to this letter is a flyer where families can pre-order meals. Details about the cost and menu are on the flyer. Additional food will not be prepared for walk up purchases, so please be sure to pre-order dinner tickets if you plan to eat. There will be a small stand set up with desserts, candy, and drinks for walk up purchases. We are also in the process of designing a t-shirt specifically for the “Pops at the Bluffs” event. T-shirt order forms will be sent home in the next few days. All order forms for the meals and t-shirts must be returned to the directors by Wednesday, April 10th.
Below is a list of all performance times. Our hope is that families will come enjoy the whole evening filled with fun music, eating, and fellowship as a Bear Family. Each student needs to arrive at least 45 minutes prior to their performance time. Each student will need to bring their instrument and music with them to the concert except the Percussion, Tubas, Baritones, French Horns, Bari Saxes, and Tenor Saxes; those instruments, which belong to the school, will be on site at the event.
