CHEROKEE BLUFF MIDDLE SCHOOL BANDS

GEOFFREY LONBERGER, DIRECTOR
Picture
RISING 6th GRADE STUDENTS:
No prior experience playing an instrument is necessary to join the band in 6th grade.  There are many benefits to students being involved in band.  Band is not only a place where students learn about expressing themselves through music, but it is also a great avenue for learning about teamwork, responsibility, work ethic, leadership, time management and so much more.  Please know that we work with middle school sports coaches to ensure that students are able to be involved in both sports and band.  Many athletes are also involved in band.  Rising 6th Grade students should fill out a student information form (below) or parents can email Mr. Lonberger requesting their child be placed in band at CBMS next year.  Students will be tested on different instruments during the first week of school to determine what instrument they will play.  Please email Mr. Lonberger if you have any questions.

RISING 7th Grade Students:
Students continue learning skills to further their development on a concert band instrument and expand their music reading ability.  7th Grade students should have been involved in band in 6th Grade to participate.  Please know that we work with middle school sports coaches to ensure that students are able to be involved in both sports and band.

RISING 8th Grade Students:
This is a high school credit course where students continue to refine skills of playing a concert band instrument and reading music.  Students should have been involved in band during their 6th and 7th Grade years to participate.

                    CBMS Band Maintenance Supply List

It is critical that each band member has the materials included in the list below in order to properly maintenance their instrument.  Students should have these items and should routinely clean their instrument as instructed by their band director. Proper maintenance of instruments is critical for successful playing and prevents unwanted repair costs.

Students can purchase most items from the band directors at school by paying with cash or checks made out to CBBA.  Parents can also order materials online at musicarts.com using a credit or debit card but may have to pay shipping costs.  Another option is visiting a local music store like Jackson’s Music in Buford or New School of Music in Buford.
