Submitting Performance assignments
All recorded performance assignments will be submitted using Google Classroom. Students need to join the correct class through their Google Classroom account.

Rational:
Students will be required to video record themselves performing musical assessments and submit them to Mr. Cantrell electronically. The reasoning for this procedure is twofold: 1) These video assessments provide a tangible and documented record of student performance. Videos may be reviewed as evidence of a student's grade and as a method to track student progress over the course of a year/s. 2) Performance assessment must be conducted but the process takes away from valuable rehearsal time that is needed to prepare for concerts. By having students submit recordings electronically, in class rehearsal time may focus on preparation for performance. Students may practice performance assessments on their own time, at their convenience, and submit their best product for evaluation
Procedure:
Performance benchmarks and musical assessments for the term will be posted in advance with due dates. Students may submit recordings at any time up to the posted deadline. Early submissions are accepted and encouraged!
Students may use any method of video recording: video camera (camcorder), cell phone, iPod/iPad, Android tablet device, or laptop (or desktop computer) with webcam and microphone, as long as the audio quality of the recording is high and accurately represents the performance. Students who do not have access to this technology or internet at home may check out a laptop, iPod/iPad from the media center. These recordings can take place before school, after school, during lunch hours, or during class time (if requested in advance). We have several Chromebooks in the band room that can be used at anytime - NO EXCUSES!

Grading:
All performance assignments may be played off any time prior to the due date for up to full points. Any assignment not completed by the due date will result in a zero being entered in the grade book. If the assignment is played off/completed after the due date, the student will earn no more than an 80 for the assignment. Performance assignments may be replayed for a higher grade (late submission clause still applies).
Recording Requirements:
1. Clearly state your name and identify the performance benchmark at the beginning of the recording.
2. The recording must be one complete uninterrupted performance of the assessment. Do not stop and start over within a
recording. If you need to start over, restart the recording. Edited/pasted video will not be accepted.
3. All players: make sure that music stand is positioned so that it does not block or interfere with recording. Video recording must be
from the side at a 45 degree angle. Make sure the video shows clear view of your face and instrument playing position.
4. Wind Players: make sure fingerings are visible in the recording.
5. Percussion: make sure that sticking is clearly visible in the recording.
