UNIFORMS
MARCHING BEARS

The band will provide the following in regards to the uniform:
  • Shako (hat)
  • Band Jacket
  • Bibbers (pants)
  • Gauntlets

Marching Band uniforms are the property of the Cherokee Bluff High School Band.  They are loaned to the student for each performance and returned back at the end of each performance.  Replacement cost to the student for damage or loss is approximately $352.50.

MARCHING BEARS PERSONAL ACCESSORIES

WEARING THE MARCHING UNIFORM

  • Shoes – The band wears black MTX marching shoes.  These are specific marching shoes and each member of the band is required to own a pair.  It is the student’s responsibility to keep their shoes shined.  It is suggested student’s put their name in their shoes under the insole.  Each student/parent is responsible for the purchase of marching band shoes ($40.00)
  • Socks – Only full length, solid black socks.  NO anklets are to be worn.
  • White Gloves – All students are required to purchase 2 pair of gloves – this ensures the availability of a clean pair at all times.  A suggestion is one pair for football games and reserve the other pair for parades/competitions.  Gloves are washable and should be kept clean.

If a student should forget gloves or socks, new ones may be purchased from the Uniform committee. Only cash will be accepted at the time of purchase.  Pricing is as follows: SOCKS - $2.00 per pair; GLOVES - $2.00 per pair.

  • While in uniform, each band member represents Cherokee Bluff High School.
  • Uniforms are never to be worn to events other than those designated by the director.
  • Always wear the entire uniform with all accessories, unless otherwise informed by the director.
  • Students are NEVER permitted to wear jewelry (earrings, bracelets, necklaces, piercing), watches, any make-up (including foundation or lipstick), or nail polish when in uniform.
  • Both FEMALE AND MALE students are required to tuck all hair that falls below the jacket collar up into the shako.
  • The Show Shirt is to be worn under the band jacket unless otherwise instructed by the uniform committee members.
  • Compression shorts, or thin athletic shorts are appropriate under uniform pants. Long underwear is great later in the season. No jeans, jean shorts, cargo pants or other bulky garments may be worn under the uniform.
  • Solid black socks (not blue or brown and no anklets) must be worn with the marching black marching shoes.
  • Clean white gloves are always worn when performing.  Please make sure that the bibbers are hemmed so that the bottom of the bibber legs touches the top of the dress band shoes with a slight break in the crease.

GOLDEN RULE - Always hang up your uniform properly!!
Last but not least, the uniform should always be worn properly with pride and dignity.

CARING FOR THE MARCHING UNIFORM

MARCHING UNIFORM INSPECTION

Students SHOULD NEVER wash, press or dry-clean any part of the uniform. If it is necessary to have the marching uniform cleaned, please contact a uniform committee co-chair. The uniforms will be stored in the bandroom and not taken home. Students will be advised when to arrive at school in order to dress in their uniforms prior to performances. Following a performance, students will need to hang their uniforms and place on the garment racks as instructed by the uniform committee members. A garment bag will be issued for travel. Only uniforms and accessories should be placed in the garment bag.
