Marching Band Registration
TUESday, April 20th, 7:00PM
Cherokee Bluff High School Band Room
The 2020 Marching Bears Kick-off and Registration will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. The Kick-off meeting will be the first official act for students and parents looking to participate in the Marching Bears. The meeting will cover all of the basic information in addition to providing registration information for parents and students. Following the meeting the first round of marching band registration will begin.
There will be an additional drop-in registration on Saturday, April 25th from 9:00am-12:00pm. This registration will not include the meeting and festivities mentioned above. However, students and parents will be able to drop in and get the marching band registration process completed.
There will be a final registration following the 2020 Head Start Camp which will be held at Cherokee Bluff High School. Head Start Camp is the first gathering of the Marching Bears. Students will learn basic marching band fundamentals, play field show music and get to meet their fellow band members.
All students planning on joining the Cherokee Bluff Marching Bears must plan to attend Head Start Camp. This includes Color Guard.
For students on the fence about joining marching band, Head Start Camp is a great way to "try things out" before they decide. They can get registered after Head Start at the secondary registration event.

HOW TO GET BAND ON YOUR SCHOOL SCHEDULE?
Toward the end of February or early March you will begin signing up for your elective classes at your current school. You will have the option to select "Band" as one of these elective choices. Choose "Band" and you will be registered during the Fall and Spring Semesters. If you are given the choice of ranking your electives according to your desire to take the class, put Band as one of the top choices. It's that easy!
If you are moving in simply fill out the information above and the directors will assist you in getting signed up for band.
When you register, you will simply sign up for band. The Cherokee Bluff Band Directors will determine your band classes by listening to each individual student. We may ask you to play a few scales (whatever you are comfortable with) and ask you to play a piece of music that you feel comfortable playing. This may be your LGPE music, or a piece you are working on in lessons, or just something you like playing. We will then use this evaluation, as well as your current Band Director's recommendation, to place you in the class that best suits your current ability level!
