Pre-FESTIVAL concert (PRE-LGPE CONCERT)
On Tuesday, February 26th, we will be performing a Pre–LGPE Concert at 7:00pm in the Cherokee Bluff Theater so parents can hear what we have been working on. We will have some band directors in attendance that night to give us some feedback to help us prepare for LGPE. We will NOT be serving a meal prior to this concert as we have at other concerts this year.
All Middle School students should wear their band uniform and need to report to the middle school band room at 6:30pm to warmup and tune.
All High School students should wear their "Concert Black" attire and need to report to the high school band room at 6:45pm to warmup and tune.

LARGE GROUP PERFORMANCE EVALUATION (LGPE)
We have two very important performances coming up for the Cherokee Bluff Band Program. As mentioned in previous emails and letters, these students are preparing for an event known as Large Group Performance Evaluation, also known as Festival. At LGPE, the band will perform three prepared pieces for three judges and sight-read a piece of music they have never seen before for another judge. The judges will give the band a rating/score of their performance; however, this is not a competition. These ratings tell us if we are performing at the level expected of a high school band. The best rating is a 1 (superior) and the next best rating is a 2 (excellent). Schools can receive ratings down to a 5.
Our LGPE Performance will be on Thursday, March 14th at Habersham Central High School (2059 Old Hwy 197 South, Mt. Airy, GA 30563). The CBMS Festival Band will perform at 11:15am and the CBHS High School Band will perform at 1:00pm. Both groups will travel on school buses to Habersham Central for LGPE and will ride back to Cherokee Bluff once we are finished performing. We should arrive by the end of the school day so students should be able to ride home as normal and participate in any after school activities. Middle School students will need to wear their band uniform, while the High School students will need to wear their "Concert Black" attire. Students should wear this to school that morning and have money for lunch (fast-food type).
LGPE is a time for our band program to really shine. This means that only the best behaved and most dedicated students may attend this trip. In the event that a student is asked to stay at school, they will be given a make-up assignment to complete in place of the LGPE performance grades. Each student must be proficient at performing their music to the required standard and must be actively participating in class daily and in our required after-school rehearsals. If any student is failing band, not in uniform, or not able to perform the music to the expected level, he/she will not travel to the event. Students who are failing academic classes may have to remain at school and miss LGPE so they do not get farther behind academically.
