FROM THE DIRECTOR:

Congratulations on your enrollment into the Cherokee Bluff High School Band! We are eager to work with each and every one of you during the upcoming year. New and high standards will be set this year and through the hard work of all students, parents, administrators and director, the Cherokee Bluff Band program will grow to become one of the best in instrumental music programs in the state of Georgia.

In order to attain our motto of “Ever Onward and Upward,” the band program must achieve a consistent level of commitment from every member.  The consistency in commitment will allow us to never look behind what we have accomplished but look ahead to what we will achieve.  It will allow us to grow, mature and build character within ourselves. You will truly get out of the Cherokee Bluff Band program what you put into it.

Another part of our motto will be “A Commitment to Excellence,” meaning we will perform at a high level on a consistent basis. The truly best bands in the state are the most consistent bands.  Paying close attention to detail, the rejection of “status-quo,” and the hunger to attain more will be our standard. Whether it be a parade, halftime show or concert performance, each student must make that commitment to excellence and put forth the maximum amount of effort while having the most fun possible.

Our vision for the band program expands each day with every Cherokee Bluff student we meet and share the love of music. We foresee great achievements on a local, regional and national scale. We anticipate superior performances in both marching and concert band areas. We see performances in national parades such as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade and the Tournament of Roses parade.  We forecast invitations for the concert bands to prestigious regional and national conferences like GMEA, NAfME, and Midwest Symposiums. We foresee a band program that sets the standard for other band programs.

You are now apart of a very special unit. You are going to make lifelong friendships, memories and experiences. You are going to work with your “band family” to achieve the common goal of greatness through the wonderful world of music!
