Band Camps 2020
In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, dates and events listed below are tentative. While we are planning on these important events to take place this summer, we may be forced to adjust depending on directions from our school system administration. If the dates/times are changed, please look out for an email from the band directors.
Band Camps are one of the most memorable activities for any high school band student. Below is our 2020 Band Camp information. We will have a series of camps before school starts to get ready for the coming season. Band Camp attendance is critical to the success of the Marching Bears. Any student participating in marching band is required to attend. Camp activities include: Learning marching and playing basics, learning field show music, learning field show drill and choreography, meeting new friends and having tons of fun!
All students planning to do marching band must complete the registration process with a parent.
PERCUSSION CAMP
JUNE 22nd - 26th 8:00am-4:00pm As a member of the Percussion or Color Guard section, you are required to attend Guard & Percussion Camp. The purpose of the camp is to get a "jump start" and work on basic fundamentals and prepare for the upcoming season.
Guard & Percussion Camp Daily Schedule: 7:30am-7:55am: Student arrival and set-up band room. 8:00am-11:00am: Morning Session 11:00am-12:00pm: Lunch on campus - No one leaves. Please bring your own lunch. 12:00pm-4:00pm: Afternoon Session PRE-BAND CAMP
JULY 20th - 24th 8:00am-4:00pm Pre-Camp Basic Schedule:
7:20am Student Leaders report to set up and prepare for breakfast and rehearsal. 7:30am Cafeteria begins serving light breakfast (mandatory for all students daily). 8:00am Full group meeting in bandroom. 8:15am Outside/Marching Block Water, hats, water, sunscreen, water, sunglasses, MORE WATER. 11:45am Announcements/Students March to Cafeteria. 12:00pm Lunch (mandatory for all students - it is Free!) 1:15pm Music Block (Indoors) Have ALL music that you have already received plus new that you will get daily. 4:00pm Combined Music Rehearsal (Indoors) 5:00pm Band Dismissed Everyone picks up trash and empties trash cans. Student leaders ensure all of our areas are squared away before leaving. All students must be picked up no more than 15 minutes after dismissal. What to Bring:
PRE-CAMP ACTIVITIES
There could be one or two Pre-Camp Activities after rehearsal on July 23rd & July 24th from 4:00-6:30pm. These activities may include swimming or some other group activity. These are TBA.

8:15am Outside/Marching Block
Water, hats, water, sunscreen, water, sunglasses, MORE WATER.

5:00pm Dinner. Provided by CBBA - If you cannot eat, or do not like the food provided, you will need to make arrangements to bring dinner or have it brought to you. No one will be allowed to leave campus for dinner. Click here to see the Band Camp Menu. Parents should volunteer if possible.
6:00pm Outside/Marching Block - putting music/routine to drill.
9:00pm Band Dismissed
Everyone picks up trash and empties trash cans. Student leaders ensure all of our areas are squared away before leaving. All students must be picked up no more than 15 minutes after dismissal.

- Keep in mind we will be outside for long stretches of time, remember sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, etc...
- Instruments
- Flutes, Clarinets, Saxophones, Trumpets, and Trombones should plan to bring their instruments.
- All other students will transfer to marching instruments that are provided by Cherokee Bluff.
- Bring a water bottle and make sure you eat breakfast. There will be fruit snacks during breaks but a good breakfast is vital.
- All Students should will be provided both breakfast and lunch during Band Camp.
- All Students will be served dinner by the CBBA each day between 4:30-6:00pm
2019 DRESS UP/THEME DAYS
Each band camp day will feature a theme. These are fun themes and will give the students an opportunity to dress up, play games and have a ton of fun! All attire should be appropriate and not interfere with your ability to march, play or move during camp.
(THEMES ARE DECIDED BY THE BAND STUDENT LEADERSHIP TEAM)
Monday: Patriotic Day ('Merca Day)
Display your school and country spirit by wearing red, white, and blue. Wear your patriotic spirit-related apparel - Star-Spangled gear, crazy socks, and other patriotic accessories. Be proud to be ab American! There will be a contest for the best outfit during dinner. Make sure your outfit is appropriate!

Tuesday: Twin Day
Pair up with another member of the band and dress alike. Feel free to wear whacky outfits and be twins for a day. There will be a contest for the best set of twins during dinner.

Wednesday: Neon Day
Show your school spirit by wearing the brightest neon colors available. The band should be blazing bright on this day with a sea of florescent colors from each student. There will be a contest for the best section with the most neon during dinner.

Thursday: We Are The BLUFF Day!
Wear your best school spirit colors - PURPLE, WHITE and SILVER! Show off your school sprit and BEAR DOWN with your Bluff Pride! There will be a contest for the best outfit and overall section of the day during dinner.

Friday: Section Theme Day
All students are asked to sport a theme of their section (which should be decided sometime during the week). Fine a t-shirt that matches your section colors, dress the same, etc. There will be section photos taken during this day.

POST BAND CAMP

Post Band Camp is our opportunity to take a breath, digest band camp and have a few more rehearsals before school begins. Once the school year starts we will be on our weekly rehearsal schedule. The post camp rehearsals are in the evening which gives the students time to rest during the day.
