As we prepare to kick off another Marching Bears season with Band Camp, I wanted to share something that really struck a chord with me.
I recently watched a short video where a father talked about what he called the "Bleacher Years." He said: "You don't get a second chance at these bleacher years, so be present, show up, and be their biggest and loudest fan because this season of life is short, and you'll never get these moments back." Those words are so true. High school goes by much faster than any of us realize. Before long, the football games, competitions, concerts, bus rides, and late-night rides home after performances become cherished memories. One day, you'll look around and realize the bleachers are a little emptier because your child has graduated. Our students will spend countless hours this season learning music, rehearsing drill, building friendships, overcoming challenges, and growing into incredible young adults. They'll remember the performances, the victories, and even the difficult rehearsals - but they'll also remember who was there to cheer them on. Whether you're able to volunteer behind the scenes, help move equipment, serve a meal, chaperone a trip, work a concession stand, or simply sit in the stands on Friday nights and clap until your hands hurt, your presence matters more than you know. Your student may not always say it, but they notice when you're there. The Marching Bears are about so much more than music; It's about family, commitment, perseverance, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. None of that happens without the incredible support of our parents and families. As we begin this new season, I want to encourage you to embrace these "Bleacher Years." Volunteer if your schedule allows. Come to the football games. Attend competitions. Celebrate the little victories. Cheer loudly. Take the pictures. Make the memories. Our students are only members of the Cherokee Bluff Marching Bears for a few short years, but the impact of your support will stay with them long after they leave the field. Thank you for trusting us with your children and for partnering with us to make this an unforgettable season. We can't wait to see our Marching Bears—and all of you—in the stands. Here's to an amazing season! Go Bears! |
GO BEARS!!
